Free Canadian legal resume templates

Start with an editable Word structure for a Canadian lawyer, paralegal, or legal assistant resume. Law clerks can adapt the legal assistant structure to their own job title, credentials, and practice experience. The files are free to download and require no account. They use ordinary paragraphs, readable type, and placeholders that you replace with your own information.

Example structure, not a real candidate. No template is endorsed by a law firm or establishes professional eligibility.

    Lawyer resume template

An editable structure for Canadian lawyer applications, with education, admissions, practice experience, and optional professional activities. Reorder sections to suit your experience and the posting.

    Paralegal resume template

A plain structure separating education, jurisdiction-specific credentials where relevant, work experience, and practical skills. It does not assume that every paralegal has the same licence or status.

    Replace every placeholder before applying

Delete the opening template instructions and any sections that do not apply. Replace bracketed fields with verified names, contact details, dates, credentials, and descriptions of your own work. The templates do not contain fictional employers, accomplishments, or licence claims to copy. Check the jurisdiction and current status of any professional credential you include.

Keep client information and confidential material out of the document. Adjust section order to suit the position and your experience. Review page breaks and follow the employer’s file-format instructions. A template gives you a structure, not a complete application or a prediction of how an application system will handle it.

Open a template in Google Docs

    1. Download the DOCX file to your device.
    2. In Google Docs, choose File, then Open, then Upload, and select the downloaded file. Google may ask you to sign in to use its editor; downloading from LegalCV does not require an account.
    3. Replace the placeholders and review the layout. Recheck spacing and page breaks after any conversion or export.

You can also edit the file in a compatible Word editor. See Google’s instructions for working with Office files. LegalCV does not connect to your Google account or create a live document for you.

    Check length, then format

Use the local resume length checker for a rough word count and editing checklist. It does not upload or save pasted text. If you already have a resume, use the formatter to organize its existing sections and create a PDF. Read the Privacy Notice before uploading.
